Last week, Japan had some notable releases with SoulCalibur VI, Dark Souls Remastered for Switch, FuRyu’s crying RPG Crystar, and a Switch edition for Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. Japanese sales tracker Media Create released the latest video game software and hardware sales data from the week of October 8 to October 14, 2018.

At the #1 spot we have Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 with a strong second week selling 92,572 units on the PS4. Super Mario Party is at #2 with 36,381 units sold on Switch. The first new title of the week is SoulCalibur VI at #3 with 24,049 units sold on the PS4.

Here’s how it compares with the previous two entries of SoulCalibur:

  • (2008) SoulCalibur IV – 109,393 [75,607 – PS3|34,786 – X360]
  • (2012) SoulCalibur V – 42,007 [34,328 – PS3|7,679 – X360]
  • (2018) SoulCalibur VI – 24,049 [PS4]

It might not be selling like it used to, but it’s been over six years since the release of its last main entry in SoulCalibur V, so it’s about right.

Dark Souls Remastered charted #4 with 14,646 units sold on the Nintendo Switch, followed by Crystar at #5 with 10,473 units sold on PS4. Lastly, the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Bonus Edition released at #11 with 5,216 units sold on Switch.

As for hardware sales, the PlayStation 4 console sold 10,158 units plus an additional 11,515 from the PS4 Pro models for a total of 21,673 units between the two. The Nintendo Switch was the best-selling console of the week with 42,148 units sold, which makes it about 58% of all hardware sold. Going by Media Create’s figures, the Nintendo Switch is currently at 5,187,099 units sold in Japan since its launch in March 3, 2017.
