Resident Evil 7 biohazard introduced a new take of VR horror but the developers won’t be keeping it around for the upcoming remake of Resident Evil 2.

Speaking with the Daily Star, producers Tsuyoshi Kanda and Yoshiaki Hirabayashi was asked whether or not Resident Evil 2’s remake will get a VR mode or add-on:

Tsuyoshi Kanda, Producer: “We’re not thinking about VR support currently, given that the camera perspective and the over-the-shoulder choice would mean that VR is not the best way to present the game. VR doesn’t match the vision for us.”

Daily Star commented on the rat’s eye view of events in the trailer that was shown at E3:

Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, Producer: “…thinking about it, maybe giving you the rat’s eye view in the trailer might have given people the wrong idea! [laughs]. But if you think there is Rat VR coming… that’s not the case.”

Resident Evil 2 releases on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on January 25, 2019. In case you missed it, it’ll have a Collector’s Edition exclusive to GameStop and EB Games.
