Furukawa Talks About Nintendo’s Smartphone Goals And Possibility Of 3DS Successor

In an interview with Kyoto Shimbun, new Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa talked about Nintendo’s target for smartphone games, and touched upon the possibility of a 3DS successor.

According to Furukawa, Nintendo’s smartphone games would have to make 100 billion yen in sales in order make it a primary source of revenue for Nintendo. Furukawa believes the smartphone game business will be important for Nintendo, and while reaching this target is difficult, it is definitely worth challenging.

Furukawa also touched lightly upon whether there may be a direct successor to the Nintendo 3DS, where he said that they are ‘considering every possibility’.
