One Piece: World Seeker producer Koji Nakajima recently sat down to discuss the game, talking about how freedom in an open world game fits One Piece, and how Luffy is true to his manga self.
Nakajima said that the game was trying to capture the sense of adventure, but while action-adventure games usually have restrictions such as invisible walls, it goes counter to One Piece’s sense of freedom. This is why the game is open world and seamless, as a way to replicate that feeling.
At the same time, the adventure will be ‘One Piece-like’, with a story line focusing on Luffy without losing his sense of character. The staff also paid a lot of attention to Luffy’s flexible fighting style.
