Pokémon Crystal, the expanded version of the second generation of Pokémon that released 17 years ago, will be available this January to the Nintendo 3DS via eShop for $9.99, Nintendo announced.

On the day Pokémon Crystalbecomes available, the Pokémon Bank, a paid service that lets players bring select Pokémon from classic core games to the newest core in the series, will also launch. It’s worth noting that with the addition of Pokémon Crystal to the Pokémon Bank, it is now possible for players to bring from all 29 core games in the series to the latest in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon.

Moreover, in this version of Pokémon Crystal, players will also have a chance to encounter the Mythical Pokémon Celebi in an event after completing the game. The original Pokémon Crystal required you to have a special accessory in order to do so.

Similar to the other Nintendo eShop editions of Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver, Crystal will take advantage of wireless communication functions of the Nintendo 3DS, allowing for Link Trades and Link Battles with other players. The Time Capsule Feature will also allow players to trade and battle Pokémon from Pokémon Red, Pokémon Blue, and Pokémon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition.

Pokémon Crystal releases on January 26, 2018 for Nintendo 3DS via eShop.
