We’re all excited to participate in Monster Hunter: World’s PS4 beta this weekend, and Capcom shared a series of instructional videos showing everything you’ll get to do in the demo.

Instructional Video #1: Preparation and Matching

The video starts from the main menu where you can select Singleplay, Multiplay, Training Area, PlayStation Store, Options, and License. It starts out with a look at the character creation. In Singleplay you can select from three different quests and choose your equipment for Hunter and Palico.

Once you’re ready, you can head out to the quest. Keep in mind that in Monster Hunter: World you’ll get to change equipment even during quests. The 1:30 mark shows us how Multiplay works. You can choose to be a leader and gather other members for a quest or participate as a member in someone else’s quest. Players will have the choice to search for specific kinds of quests or from quest numbers to meet up with friends. You’ll get to change equipment for your Hunter or Felyne while waiting on other players.

Instructional Video #2: Various Option Settings

You can change various settings in the option such as mini-map display, or for the first time in a main Monster Hunter game—the option to hide your headgear. There are a variety of options for controls, camera, display, and more. There’s even a way to set damage indicators, where you can switch off the number of damage you do for each hit.

Instructional Video #3: Navigating with the Scout Flies

This video is about using Scout Flies that help Hunters by acting as guides to navigate through the area. They’ll help find monsters, as well as certain items while out in the field. However, keep in mind that when monsters are nearby the Scout Flies hide so you won’t be able to use them unless you’re in the clear.

Instructional Video #4: Using the Slinger

The next video highlights the new “Slinger” item. These are used in various ways by the Hunter, as it can be used as a grappling hook to swing or pull on objects. You can also use it to shoot projectiles such as rocks, nuts, and other items. The Sword and Shield is the only weapon that can use the Slinger while the weapon is unsheathed. All other weapons require you to have your weapon set aside when using the Slinger.

Instructional Video #5: Using Weapons to Attack Monsters

Here’s a video that’s all about attacking with weapons. It runs us through the Monster Hunter basics of attacks lowering your sharpness meter with it decreasing in power once it goes too low. Using Whetstones, you can recover your weapon’s sharpness. We get a look at a variety of melee and gun weapons as well as some of their special characteristics.

Instructional Video #6: Using Special Mantles

And lastly, here’s one for the different Mantles you can use. The Ghille Mantle temporarily conceals you from enemy view, the Glider Mantle increases your jump airtime and power to ride strong winds. The Challenger Mantle prompts monsters to target you more often, making them easier to lure for traps. The Rocksteady Mantle eliminates damage reactions, prevents wind effects, protects hearing, grants tremor resistance, and lowers the damage taken.
