Sony is trying something new with a PSVR app called Theater Room VR that will allow fans to watch movies and anime in a virtual reality space. A beta test starts for PS Plus subscribers in Japan on December 13.
Theater Room VR is a PSVR app that puts you in a virtual reality space with a big screen theater used to enjoy video content such as movies, anime, and more. Sony aims to make it into a new service they offer and are going to host two beta test sessions for the app.
The above is a look at the virtual reality space inside Theater Room VR. It won’t let you walk around but you can observe your surroundings from the seat. It uses the DualShock 4 controller to navigate and you can use the touch pad to change the screen size and other settings.
The first beta test will feature the film Sword Art Online The Movie: Ordinal Scale. Those of you with Japanese PS Plus accounts can submit your applications over at the Japanese PlayStation Store from November 29 through December 5 at 11:59pm JST. The actual viewing period for those accepted will be from December 13 through December 19 at 11:59pm JST.
The second viewing features Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV. Its application period is December 6 through December 12 at 11:59pm JST and the viewing period is from December 20 through December 26 at 11:59pm JST.
