Koei Tecmo had plenty to share for Dynasty Warriors 9 in this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine starting with the addition of Bao Sanniang, Guan Suo, Pang De, Han Dang, and Zhang Chuhua. [Thanks, Hachima.]
Here are the latest playable characters and their weapons:
- Bao Sanniang (CV: Ai Nonaka|Weapon – Mandarin duck hooks)
- Guan Suo (CV: Hiroaki Miura|Weapon: Nunchaku)
- Pang De (CV: Masakazu Morita|Weapon: Wolf teeth mace)
- Han Dang (CV: Hideyuki Tanaka|Weapon: Short pike)
- Zhang Chunhua (CV: Masumi Asano|Weapon: Steel whipsword)
The magazine shared details on Dynasty Warriors 9’s weapon collecting and enhancing.
First, the game will have a valuable weapon collection feature, but we’ll learn more about that later. What we do know for now is that there’s a new enhancement system where you equip gems onto weapons for various effects. A weapon can equip up to six gems. These come with effects such as power up parts of attacks, a chance of inflicting an ailment to the enemies, additional attributes, and more.
New weapons can be purchased at blacksmiths found in cities. Weapons come in ranks of low, medium, and high grades, and they’ll vary in characteristics and looks. High-end weapons can be made using materials gathered from the field or from quest rewards.
Dynasty Warriors 9 releases in Japan on February 8, 2018 for PlayStation 4. It’ll release in North America and Europe on February 13 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
