Sega recently revealed Shining Resonance Refrain, an upcoming remaster of the PS3 RPG, and this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine provides us with further details. [Thanks, Ryokutya2089.]

Here are a bunch of highlights from the magazine:

  • Will include all over-150 DLCs from the original game.

  • New songs and new costumes added.

  • The first new addition to Shining Resonance Refrain is a “Refrain Mode” that will let you enjoy a “what if” story featuring Excela Noa Aura and Jenius Aeon who normally don’t join your party.

  • The last boss of the first chapter has been made easier to beat.

  • A new restart function allows you to start from before the event if you lose in battle.

  • Rinna’s AI has been improved.

  • Quest rewards and accomplishments made easier to understand.

  • Fromage’s navigation can be switched off and on.

  • Text added for conversations out in the field.

  • Tsuyoshi Sawada dropped out as the Shining series producer, but Sega’s Makoto Suzuki said “If anything, this is only the start” about the restart of the series.

  • Resolution has been increased and runs at 60fps.

  • Sega didn’t want to change the story so it won’t be different. Visuals from the Refrain Mode will be revealed next week. It will have more volume than what we saw with the dates with other characters in the original version.

  • New voice lines being added.

  • The limited edition will have more content than Blade Arcus from Shining’s.

  • Series character designer Tony Taka hopes to see a revival for the series, and hopes to see what’s next starting with Shining Resonance Refrain.

Shining Resonance Refrain releases in Japan on March 29, 2018 for PlayStation 4 for 5,990 yen plus tax. A Premium Fan Box edition will be available for 9,490 yen plus tax. The limited edition version includes a fan book, drama CD, and theme song CD.
