Wii Shop Channel Is Shutting Down On January 31, 2019

Nintendo announced that it is shutting down the Wii console’s online shop service on January 31, 2019. The service originally launched back in December 2006.

Wii Points will no longer be available for purchase starting March 27, 2018 at 4:59am JST. As for the Wii Shop Channel, it’ll be around for a while longer until January 31, 2019 at 2:59pm JST.

WiiWare and Virtual Console items purchased can be downloaded again or transferred from Wii to Wii U using the Wii System Transfer, but this will also shut down service later.
