We recently got the first batch of information on Atelier Lydie & Soeur: Alchemists of the Mysterious Painting, and Famitsu has provided a first look at the twin protagonists, a pretty world in a painting, and new features.
Lydie Marlen (CV: Maria Naganawa) is on the right. She’s the calm and quiet older twin sister. She’s known for having a unique sense of art. Meanwhile, Soeur Marlen (CV: Hikaru Akao) is the opposite as an energetic girl who is more of a tomboy but dislikes bugs. They’re both from a small Atelier located in the capital city called Merveille.
Here’s a look at some more images from this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine:
The first visual shows the twin sisters along with a few paintings, which play a big part in the story of Atelier Lydie & Soeur.
The game features everyday parts that are familiar to fans of the series, but it’ll also have some improvements in other areas.
The above is a look at a mysterious painting the sisters find in the basement of the atelier. Before they know it, they find themselves in a world inside the painting.
The first painting you visit is a mysterious land with pretty flowers and scenery. Here you’ll gather all kinds of ingredients used for synthesis. Lydie and Soeur will visit plenty of other worlds inside paintings during their adventure.
Lydie and Soeur hope to become better alchemists using material found in the painting’s world, as they spend time helping others with requests and increase their Atelier rank.
Not much is known about the synthesis system, but it is said to have gone through a dramatic change. In the above images we see Lydie synthesizing an attack item. By using “Activation Items” you can change the colors like you would in Reversi/Othello. The example shows how she was able to fill up on green panels, which can do things such as increase wind element damage.
One of the big new features is a combination battle system that allows you to use material and synthesize items during battle.
Atelier Lydie & Soeur: Alchemists of the Mysterious Painting is in development for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita. You can read more about the game in our previous report.
