Last week, Japan had several new releases with Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration, Paper Mario: Color Splash, Godly Prison Tower: Mary Skelter, and more including the PSVR’s debut. Here’s sales tracker Media Create’s latest software and hardware sales data from the week of October 10 through October 16, 2016.

Monster Hunter Stories stuck around to keep #1 for its second week, selling 67,133 copies for Nintendo 3DS. For a better understanding of its sales, head back to our previous week’s report for more details on how it performed as a title that was made to broaden their kid-friendly horizon.

Next up, we have Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration on PlayStation 4, which debuted at #2 with 21,152 units sold in its debut. Keep in mind that the game has already released in Japan on Xbox One and Xbox 360 late last year, along with a PC release earlier this year in January.

Following, we have Paper Mario: Color Splash for Wii U at #3 with 20,894 units sold in its first week. Previously, the series has seen 129,054 units sold for Paper Mario: Sticker Star’s debut on 3DS, which comes to show that the main audience is definitely on the handheld side. It should be interesting to see how it shapes up when we eventually get a Paper Mario game on the Nintendo Switch.

At #4 we have Compile Heart’s latest dungeon crawler in Godly Prison Tower: Mary Skelter with 18,358 copies sold in its debut for PlayStation Vita. The next new release of the week is PlayStation VR World at #8 with 5,983 copies sold, making it the top-selling title of the PlayStation VR’s launch lineup in Japan. If you’re wondering what happened to all the other VR titles, a lot of them are actually digital-only in Japan, including Summer Lesson. And finally, at #19, Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens charted at #19 with 3,184 copies in its debut.

We didn’t see any noteworthy changes from the week before as far as hardware sales go, but they did add a new section for “peripheral devices” that shows the PlayStation VR had sold 51,644 units in its debut in Japan. Okay, fine, the Xbox One saw a pretty big bump going from 88 units the week prior to 323 units.
