In Monster Hunter Stories you’ll get to befriend all kinds of monsters from the series as “Otomon,” and they’ll all have their own characteristics. Capcom shares more on the friendly monsters.
In addition to the regular Zinogre, Zinogre Subspecies also exist in the game.
This Zinogre Subspecies also comes with its own Bond Attack called “Cross High-Volt,” where you’ll see it cover itself in bright Dragon Light and smash enemies from above.
Barroth the Landslide Wyvern is always a pain to fight in previous Monster Hunter games, but he’ll actually help out with his various skills in Monster Hunter Stories.
His “Barroth Charge” Bond Attack lets you dig up rocks while crashing into enemies as part of a powerful charge attack.
Seregios, who debuted in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, is also one of the friendly monsters.
Seregios fires its quill-like scales at enemies as part of its “Shooting Star” Bond Attack.
When you’re not in battle, the Otomon will help out with various abilities called “Ride Action.” Here’s a look at some of the helpful abilities.
“Insect Detection” allows you to find insect nodes across the field.
“Underground Movement” allows you to dig underground and travel to different areas. This ability allows you to go behind walls and other places.
“Jump” allows you to reach the other side of cliffs that you normally can’t reach on your own.
“Flight” allows you to mount on an Otomon and freely fly around. While flying, you won’t have to worry about encountering enemy monsters.
Monster Hunter Stories will release in Japan on October 8, 2016 for Nintendo 3DS.
