FuRyu recently shared the latest footage of their upcoming PlayStation Vita RPG by Persona 1 and Persona 2 scenario writer Tadashi Satomi at a Dengeki video game festival.
At the 10:50 mark of the video, we get a look at the key characters from the “Return Group” of Caligula, a group of people that have realized that “Mobius” isn’t a real world, as the people there are simply living ideal high school lives that repeat its three years, and they look for a way to return back to the real world. We’ll have a closer look at the main characters with more detail later.
Skip to the 27:45 mark to get a look at the game’s world of Mobius. There are about 500 unique characters to be found here, and you’ll be able to interact with all of them and meet them. As you interact, you’ll gain trust levels with them, and they’ll eventually open up and tell you about their deep troubles. The higher this level is, the more they’ll tell you about their troubles.
There are over 500 of these characters, meaning you’ll be able to find out about each and every one of their troubles as you gain more trust. The next part shows how you’ll find “suspicious” people within the school, and the battles start right then and there.
As for the gameplay, it’s command-based, but using the “Imaginary Chain” battle system, you’ll get to see movements and combos take place ahead of time before they actually take place. If it sounds a little confusing, you can check out our earlier report for the full details.
At the 31:59 mark, we get to see another battle take place, where the developers show us what it’s like to fight more of a tankier opponent. This time, you can see that the enemy can’t be launched into the air for a full-party combo, but you’ll get to do a “Guard Break” to stagger them, and follow up with more hits.
Caligula will release on June 23, 2016 for PlayStation Vita. The game is being developed by Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment makers, Aquria.
