<< How to read and understand sales
Last week, Japan had a few new releases with Kamen Rider: Battride War Genesis, Mega Man Legacy Collection, TV Anime IdolM@ster: Cinderella Girls G4U! Pack Vol. 9, Ao no Kanatra no Four Rhythm, and Hero Death. Media Create provides us with the latest sales data of video game software and hardware sales from the week of February 22 through February 28, 2016.
The top-selling software of the week goes to Kamen Rider: Battride War Genesis, which took #01, #03, and #04 of this week’s chart after having sold 33,195 for PS4, 22,303 for PS Vita, and 22,280 on PS3 for a total of 77,778 copies across all three platforms.
This would be its third installment from the series, and here’s how it stacks against the previous two:
- (2013) Kamen Rider: Battride War—128,659 [PS3]
- (2014) Kamen Rider: Battride War II—69,585 [62,649 PS3/6,936 Wii U]
As you can see, the latest title from the series in Kamen Rider: Battride War Genesis didn’t perform nearly as well as the first one, but it managed to do better than its predecessor with numbers even higher than Bandai Namco’s Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4’s from a couple weeks ago.
Other new releases include Mega Man Legacy Collection’s Japanese release, which saw 23,942 copies sold on its debut week to place it at #02. TV Anime IdolM@ster: Cinderella Girls G4U! Pack Vol. 9 made its debut with 12,792 copies sold, followed by Ao no Kanatra no Four Rhythm at #11. Hero Death released as well, but it only managed to get the #17 spot with 7,018, so I’m sure Nippon Ichi was hoping to see it do a little better than that, even for a remake of a mobile game.
Looking at the list, it’s always interesting to see Splatoon, Minecraft: PlayStation Vita Edition, and Monster Hunter X manage to stay on the top-20 week after week while other titles eventually make their way out of it after several weeks. Yo-kai Watch Busters, too, but it looks like it’s in danger of finally dropping out of the charts.
