PlayStation 4 Is Getting PlayStation 2 Emulation, Sony Reveals

There’s been reports earlier today of a few Star Wars games for PlayStation 4 are running on a PS2 emulator, and Wired got in touch with Sony, who confirmed that the PS4 is indeed getting a PS2 emulation.

 

“We are working on utilizing PS2 emulation technology to bring PS2 games forward to the current generation,” a Sony representative told Wired via email. “We have nothing further to comment at this point in time.”

 

As mentioned int he report, the said titles are Super Star Wars, Star Wars: Racer Revenge, Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter, and Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, all that come included as a selection of bonus classic games with Star Wars: Battlefront on PS4.

 

Now that the cat is out of the bag, we’ll likely hear of more PlayStation 2 titles headed to PS4 as digital releases in the near future, with some improvements and trophy support.
