First seen at G-Star, Smilegate announced Qurare: Magic Library for PlayStation 4. Speaking with Siliconera, Gyehan Song from Smilegate confirmed the game will be released in the USA and Southeast Asia this September. The game has already been localized into English.
Qurare: Magic Library is set in the Library of Babel that contains all of the knowledge in the universe. When the library is destroyed three apprentices librarian hopeful Miyu, former military specialist Delphin, and Cella, a girl from a privileged background, go off on a journey to reclaim the lost knowledge. The game is a card battling game with cooperative play and online raids.
"Qurare for PS4 is is our first attempt developing a console version of our games. Instead of making revenue out of it we want the experience of making a console game, releasing it, and interacting with users playing it. We’re more focused on that experience," Song said. "We’re optimizing the game for consoles now. For example, there were cooldown features and we’re trying to remove it because for consoles we don’t want to bother players while playing the game. There will be a lot of changes between the mobile version and console version."
Smilegate collaborated with over 100 artists from Korea to create more than 500 cards for Qurare. These cards take inspiration from other media like Sherlock Holmes (left) and Scarface (right). "Qurare was developed with high quality graphics, but when we launched the game we had to shrink the graphics because of size problems. On PlayStation 4, players will be able to see these high quality graphics."
Update: Smilegate said the release schedule for Qurare: Magic Library has changed. The game will still be released internationally, but has been rescheduled for 2016.
