During the recent “Neo Romance 20th Anniversary Concert” that was held at the Kanagawa Prefecture Kenmin Hall, Koei Tecmo Games announced a remake of their dating sim title, Angelique, and that it will release for PlayStation Vita and PSP this October. [Thanks, Game Jouhou.]

Angelique has seen various remakes since its first title back in 1994 for the Super Famicom. The game is basically about the protagonist Angelique who has been chosen as a candidate to becoming a Queen of the Cosmos after the previous Queen’s powers of balancing elemental forces have begun to fade away.

However, Angelique isn’t the only candidate, and she’ll have to compete by having a land to populate, with the winner chosen by whoever finishes populating their land first in order to become the next Queen of the Cosmos.

While it sounds pretty innocent, the candidates will get help from the nine Guardians by using their powers to make people of the land happy, or to do the exact opposite towards the people of the rival candidate’s land. This is where the dating sim part kicks in, as Angelique can befriend the nine Guardians, and possible fall in love with them.

If a candidate opts to fall in love with a Guardian, she must give up becoming the next Queen. Tough choices. That said, it appears that things are going to be a little bit tougher, as the PlayStation Vita and PSP remake introduces a new character.

Brian:

Brian is a young man Angelique will meet on the continent. His age is unknown. He’s wise, but also egocentric. He tends to go on and on about himself, so it’s a little difficult to approach. He also seems to look down on Angelique, as he sees her as a bit of a slow-witted girl. Okay, he might sound like a jerk—but hey, he’s good-looking.

Angelique Retour will release in Japan in October 2015 for PlayStation Vita and PSP.
