In addition to all the new playable characters that One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 is adding, the game also features a new Treasure Event system, along with more cooperative features. The official website provides the latest details.
One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 adds a new Treasure Event system that occurs when you see a “?” marker appear. When you encounter one of these, you’ll get to watch a special event upon meeting certain conditions. While not much else is known about the Treasure Events, you’ll get to see the requirements by pressing pause.
One Piece has always been about friendship, and Pirate Warriors 3 reflects this with the “Bond Attack” system. When damaging enemies, you’ll increase your Bond Parameter, and once it fills up, your bond level increases.
After getting bond level 2, you can press the square and triangle buttons, to have a friend show up for an assisted Bond Attack.
The “Bond Rush” is activated by pressing the R2 button when the bond level hits its max. During the Bond Rush, your Bond attacks become stronger, and also into combo attacks. Your Bond level goes back to 1 after use.
After activating a Bond Rush with a friend, you’ll form an “Alliance” with them, which allows you to call them out for Bond Rushes with other characters. You can have up to four characters for your Alliance.
While in a Bond Rush, pressing the circle button will allow you to perform a “Special Bond Attack,” which is basically a hard-hitting attack done by two characters.
Additionally, the website reveals that there will be more to the story, as players will get to revisit parts from Drum Island, Alabasta, Mock Town, and Skypiea.
One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 will release this summer for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and PC. The game launches earlier in Japan, on March 26, 2015.
