Just a month ago, Genius Sonority announced that their free-to-play Nintendo 3DS RPG, The Denpa Men RPG Free!, had crossed 500,000 downloads. This morning, they announced that the game has been downloaded over 1 million times.

In commemoration of the event, three in-game Jewels are being offered to players from October 7th – 14th, among other bonuses. In order to avail these, players will need to “check in” to the game. Special in-game decorations are also being sold via an event shop.

In addition, Genius will also open up a new event for the game, which will only be available for a limited time, and will be meant for high-level players. More details on this event will be shared at a later date.

Free-to-play games are picking up on the 3DS. Just a few weeks ago, Sega announced that their own free-to-play title, Initial D: Perfect Shift Online, had been downloaded over 400,000 times. It should be interesting to see if more publishers hop onto the free-to-play format on the platform.
