Loto’s legacy is now complete on smartphones. Square Enix just released Dragon Quest III: And Thus Into the Legend… for iOS and Android in Japan.
Dragon Quest III begins with the hero summoned on his or her sixteenth birthday to fight a legendary villain. Players can pick allies like a warrior, cleric, mage or jester at Rudia’s Tavern to join them on their quest. The bonus dungeon from the Super Famicom / Game Boy Color re-releases is included in this version.
Dragon Quest III is displayed in portrait mode like other smartphone Dragon Quest games and uses touch screen controls. The game will cost 1,200 yen in Japan. Square Enix confirmed the Dragon Quest smartphone series for the West, but have not set a release date for Dragon Quest III.
Correction: This article had an incorrect release date for the Dragon Quest portal instead. Dragon Quest III for iOS and Android is out now through the Dragon Quest Portal.
