Bandai Namco discussed story details for Tekken 7 during a panel at the San Diego Comic-Con today, after screening a new trailer for the game. Tekken 7, Namco said, will deal with the question of why Heihachi had to kill his wife, Kazumi. (Kazumi is believed to be the lady shown in the game’s debut trailer.)

Other questions Namco raised to the audience were: Why did Heihachi have to throw his son, Kazuya, into a pit? Why did he have to kill Jin? Who is Devil Jin? These questions would be answered in Tekken 7, Namco said.

Producer Katsuhiro Harada stated that the game will be one-on-one like the other numbered Tekken titles. However, Namco are still working on gameplay systems for Tekken 7 and are in the process of polishing them, so are unable to show any gameplay footage at Comic-Con.

A number of guest artists are providing art for Tekken 7, Namco revealed. These include: Mari Shimazaki (Bayonetta), Yusuke Kozaki (Fire Emblem: Awakening and No More Heroes), Ninnin (Duel Masters), Kenichirou Yoshimura (Metal Gear Rising and Anarchy Reigns).

Ninnin is providing art for Lars and a new character. Lars was shown wearing a torn red cape. Meanwhile, Mari Shimazaki is working on a new character as well. Concept art of this character was shown, depicting her dressed in priestess-like robes.
