Nexon have been working on MapleStory 2, the sequel to their hit 2D side-scrolling MMORPG for several years now, and they finally revealed some gameplay footage from the upcoming game. 4Gamer shares a look at the game’s new trailer.

It’s immediately noticeable that MapleStory 2 will be quite different from its 2D predecessor, with an all new 3D look to go with a world made of blocks, but it still seems to retain some of the elements from the original game, such as the vast worlds to explore and super-deformed character styles.

The battle looks fast-paced, with more emphasis on surroundings and action elements, as seen in other recent MMORPGs, where dodging enemy attacks is part of surviving huge boss fights.

MapleStory 2 is currently in development, and will launch sometime this year in South Korea, with a Japanese launch announcement expected to be made sometime in the near future.
