There was a point in time when U.K. publisher Ghostlight intended to release Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga and Digital Devil Saga 2 as PS2 Classics in Europe. Unfortunately, in 2012, Ghostlight stated that the two games were suffering from emulation problems, which was preventing their release.

That might—key word: “might”—be changing in the future. Over on Ghostlight’s blog, community manager Ross Brierley writes:

A quick word about the recent release of Shin Megami Tensei: Lucifer’s Call (aka Nocturne) on PSN in North America. While I can’t comment on whether this title will be released in Europe, I’ve been hearing a few stirrings regarding a possible European PSN release for Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga 1 & 2 as PS2 classics. I can’t promise anything just yet, but I’m hoping that this might mean the conflicts with the emulator which prevented us from releasing the game on PSN last year have now been fixed. I will of course provide you with more news on this as soon as I get it, so as always, keep watching this space!

Meanwhile, Atlus USA have been teasing more Shin Megami Tensei PS2 Classics, following the release of Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne in North America.
