Square Enix revealed their mystery “light novel-style RPG” as Schoolgirl Strikers, a free-to-play mobile game with the slogan “Classmates will become comrades in arms.” The game’s first trailer gives us a better idea of what kind of game it is.
The trailer starts out with a silver-haired girl named Tierra who addresses you, the player, as “Captain,” and it looks like you’ve been knocked out for a while and aren’t exactly aware of your surroundings.
She then explains that the place you’re in is a base of operations known as Eterno, which resembles a large school campus. Apparently, the captain is still a bit hazy on what’s going on, so she’ll be explaining everything else in full detail.
This is followed by the introductions of the determined Tsubame Miyama, the forward-looking Io Yaginuma, Satoka Sumihara who seems to be lost in thought about curry bread, the energetic Yumi Sajima, and the simple yet cute Mana Namori.
At 1:45 in the trailer, we get to see the battle of Schoolgirl Strikers, which seems to have some sort of player and enemy turn-based system going on. We also get to see the girls that were introduced and many others pull off what looks like their special attacks against foes of various types.
In addition to the battle outfits we’ve seen in our earlier report, it looks like they’ll also have some sort special skill or combo that involves angel and demon-form transformations.
Schoolgirl Strikers is currently available for iOS devices in Japan. An Android version has yet to be announced from Square Enix.
