New details are available on Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea in this week’s issue of Dengeki PlayStation magazine. Dengeki brings information on new characters in the game. (Thanks, Zaregoto)

Cortez (voiced by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka) is Shallistera’s childhood friend. He has a big-brother personality and acts as her guard. Cortez uses a pike as his weapon. Meanwhile, Theocugre (voiced by Shin Aomori) is a shipwright. He also accompanies Shallistera and addresses her as “m’lady” (ojou-sama in Japanese).

Finally, Shallotte’s mother is mentioned as well. Shallote Elminus is the other protagonist in the game, and her mother is Nadi Elminus (voiced by Aya Hisakawa). Nadi tags along with Shallotte as she goes about her business, but she isn’t very knowledgeable about alchemy. As a result, she ends up biting off more than she can chew.

Dengeki also mentions that Shallistera and Shallotte have nicknames for one another. Shallistera is called “Stera,” while Shallotte is “Lotte”.

Finally, Dengeki reports that both Shallistera and Shallotte will have abilities that are exclusive to them in the game’s fields. Dowsing is only available to Shallistera, and lets you find hidden items on the field. (Gust hinted at this earlier.) Meanwhile, fishing is available to Shallotte, and by using specifically prepared bait, you can acquire more items.

Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea is scheduled for release in Japan on June 26th. The game is in development of the PlayStation 3.
