Huh. There’s already a new class for Dragon Quest X: The Slumbering Hero and Sworn Guiding Ally. Square Enix are now teasing the next major update for the massively multiplayer online roleplaying game (MMORPG) in version 2.1, and one of the major additions is a new class called the Item Master.
Also packed into the update are new fun things to do including an entire fishing mini-game. With sharks. Cooking the food up also looks like a brand new deal with the (finally!) opening of the cooking guild. And the most important addition, more housing furniture.
The Item Master looks like he’ll be able to enhance items used in combat, and like the Beastmaster class, can also control some minions. He’s able to command machine and material family-type monsters, such as what appears to be a Killing Machine or Restless Armor monster. He, alongside other classes, will benefit from a rise in skill levels to 130 (up from 100), which adds new limit breaks like the Super Falcon Sword skill or casting ever more powerful spells such as Kaboomle.
I love housing. Some might hate it, but this is one of the more fun things to do when you just want to log in, kick back and fiddle around without looking for a dungeon or going on a quest. So it’s heartening to see a huge number of additions to the kinds of furniture you’ll be able to place, including jackpot machines. Whether they’re actually playable or not isn’t known, but it’d sure make for fun role-playing conversations.
There will also be new kinds of monster incarnations in the game, though what exactly changes isn’t known quite yet.
Dragon Quest X: The Slumbering Hero And Sworn Guiding Ally is available now on PC, Wii and Wii U. Update 2.1 will hit on the 27th of February. You can watch a trailer for it here.
