Those waiting for a little bit more information on how kissing RPG Exstetra’s battle system will work—what with its enchanted skill level up system and all—can take a gander at the above video to see some of it in action. What’s immediately obvious is that the game is a turn-based strategy during battles, and those battles are usually randomly encountered.

Astute eyes will also note that while the enemy has three rows to place themselves in (A hint to overly large monsters perhaps?) Ryoma’s party only gets two. They also show how some skills will knock back and adjust where characters (and presumably foes as well) are on the map, though whether this means you could smash multiple foes into each other ala Radiant Historia isn’t revealed.

Moved characters might no longer have access to certain skills and abilities which are dependent on the rows they’re in. It also looks like you can speed up combat (Oh my God yes!)

We also see Ryoma sucking in some EXS powers, but the question remains whether this is limited to having Ryoma land the killing blow or if anyone can do so. I hope not! Having one character land killing blows is annoying as all as it is, and could be doubly so since EXS are tied to powers for other characters.

Exstetra will be out November 7th  on Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita.
