We’ve seen different back-stories of Drakengard 3’s Utautai sisters, ranging from Three’s obsession with dolls, to the caring yet dark-sided Four. Similar to the previous Drakengard games, we’ll also be seeing weapon stories in the third installment. Here’s a look at the sad tale of the spear’s life.
In Drakengard and Nier, they give background details on each weapon of the games, one of the biggest parts that made weapon collecting more rewarding than other games. Drakengard 3 will continue with the tradition, and will feature weapons that tell different tales with their own personalities.
The below is the story of the spear. For those of you who’d rather not be spoiled, you can check out our other Drakengard 3 posts.
The End’s Warning — Spear
Lv. 1
This is a story about a certain spear. A story of a certain spear, passed down to a certain man. The man didn’t know that his time was nearing an end, but the spear knew of this.
Lv. 2
The man loved the beautiful sound of the spear each time he brandished it. And the spear continued to cry. As it tried telling the man of his end. The man eventually ceased to breathe. In the midst of hearing the beautiful sound of his beloved spear in the fierce battlefield.
Lv. 3
That was the story of the end. The end of a certain man’s time. On the side of the man who had become a cold lump of flesh. The spear had quietly grieved over the death of its 568th owner.
Lv. 4
The spear awaits its next owner. For the day that owner’s life comes to an end, while it rings its beautiful sound. In the midst of time that lasts an eternity, the spear that has seen countless ends, continues to wait.
While the next one isn’t as thought provoking as the story of the spear, the quirky and somewhat insane sword tells a whole other tale.
