Since fans have been asking about a Western release, we asked Senran Kagura producer Kenichiro Takaki if Marvelous AQL would work with Xseed to localize it or somehow bring it to the West.
“Of course, we’d like to release it overseas,” Takaki replied. “But, one of the most important things about the game it’s not just an action game, it’s also very sexualized. What we would like to do, when Nintendo further builds up their infrastructure for downloadable games, is release it as a downloadable title.”
While Senran Kagura: Crimson Burst has not been announced for North America or Europe, South Korea will get the game as a digital import via the eShop.
It’s interesting that Burst has an enhanced version of the first game as a bonus. Why did you want to add in the original Kagura?
Kenichiro Takaki, Producer: One of the reasons is there is an anime coming out on Japanese TV next year and we wanted people who haven’t experienced the game yet could get it. We also took feedback about the first game from fans and for fans who really enjoyed the first game we could give them a remastered version. Also, there were things I wanted to put in the original Kagura that I couldn’t because of time and resources.
What’s your favorite new feature for Senran Kagura Burst?
My favorite feature in this game is if you blow on the microphone on the 3DS it lifts the girls’ skirts up.
And… um… how have the fans reacted to this addition?
They’re like YEAH! They really love this feature and how the changing room which didn’t support 3D in the original, supports 3D in Burst.
Some of these features might not transfer over, but have you thought about releasing Kagura on Steam, as well?
Right now, we don’t have any plans to do that. One of the reasons is the art assets were designed specifically for the 3D features on the 3DS, so it wouldn’t be an easy port. But, if an opportunity presented itself, we’d like to try.
