Kingdom Hearts 3D [Dream Drop Distance] came out in Japan and when you open the case you’re greeted by friendly faces. Dream Eaters fill the holes in the eco-friendly packaging.
Inside players will find two AR cards. The crown card is makes a Dream Eater appear on top of it. You can use it to take photos of your Dream Eaters. The card with the Dream Eaters on it is a bonus for first print editions. It immediately unlocks Kingda Nyan, a chubbier version of Wonder Nyan.
Kingdom Hearts 3D [Dream Drop Distance] doesn’t require AR cards for augmented reality. Select "spirit" from the main menu and a Dream Eater pops up. You only need the AR cards if you want to appear in a specific place without turning the 3DS all over the place. You can switch to photo mode by holding the R button down.
Augmented reality is used for more than photos. Players can "pet" their Dream Eaters by rubbing the touch screen to increase their stats. Square Enix also created a few AR mini-games which level up your virtual pets too. We’ll have more on Kingdom Hearts 3D later this week so check back soon.
