Etrian Odyssey IV may not have augmented reality F.O.E.s dancing on your dining room table, but Atlus is utilizing the 3DS’ built-in cameras. The dungeon crawler has QR code feature, which lets players unlock extra quests.
The news comes from accessory and arcade stick maker Hori who have an Etrian Odyssey IV accessory set. The 2,780 yen ($34) bundle includes a soft 3DS pouch, stylus, plastic cover, and what’s most interesting – a QR code for an original quest. Details about what players do on the quest have not been announced. Maybe you’ll be able to unlock the sacred green stylus sword or a protective case shield for the Fortress class. (Kidding!)
We’re curious to see how else Atlus plans to use the QR code feature. Will players be able to create custom quests? Will they release new missions via QR codes on their website?
Etrian Odyssey IV comes out on July 5.
