As Siliconera reported earlier, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 has touch screen controls. Capcom explained the commands today, which you can turn on by selecting touch mode from the main menu.
Here’s how the optional control scheme works:
Attack – tap (almost) anywhere on the screen*
Move – drag your finger forward or backward, your character will follow
Dash – flick your finger forward or backward
Duck – drag your finger down
Jump – flick your finger up
Assist attack – tap a character icon
Character change – hold your finger on a character icon
Hyper Combo – tap the Hyper Combo gauge
X-Factor – tap the X-Factor icon
As long as you don’t tap any of the specific icons, you can keep tapping the screen to hit the other player with a chain combo. Capcom did not mention if special attacks have different commands.
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, just like the console version, will have online play. You can challenge other players via Wi-Fi and watch fights using spectator mode. It appears Heroes and Heralds mode will be on the cart. Using Near, players can gift each other gold Herald colors. Capcom says this is an original color made for the Vita version.
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is a launch title in Japan slated for December 17.
