Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge was one of the third party Wii U games shown during Nintendo’s E3 press conference. What exactly is it?
"Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge is still Ninja Gaiden 3, but we plan to utilize the new controller for the Wii U to do new things," said Yosuke Hayashi, Team Ninja head, in a Siliconera interview. "You may remember Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword for the Nintendo DS, we’re thinking implementing that kind of action and gameplay in an enhanced way for Wii U using the controller’s touch screen."
Team Ninja designed a unique control scheme for their Nintendo DS Ninja Gaiden game. Dragon Sword had players tap the screen to throw weapons and draw lines to make Ryu slash enemies with his sword. Ninpo was cast by tracing characters with the stylus.
The Wii U controller has dual analog sticks, d-pad, a familiar ABXY button layout, and a large touch screen. Before Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge comes out, Team Ninja will release Ninja Gaiden 3 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 early next year.
