Famitsu has the scoop on a brand new Haruhi Suzumiya game hitting PSP and PlayStation 3 called The Reminiscence of Haruhi Suzumiya.
Since scans haven’t leaked out all we have is a name and platforms from the table of contents. Sega used to publish Haruhi games in Japan, but Kadokawa Shoten took the series back starting with The Mahjong of Haruhi Suzumiya. Yeah, there’s a mahjong Haruhi game for PSP.
Update: The Reminiscence of Haruhi Suzumiya isn’t a remake or a retelling of the Haruhi series. It’s an original story, developed with the animation team, that picks up after the Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya… in a parallel world. Whether the SOS brigade returns to the real world or enjoys another Kita High festival with a bashful Nagato is up to you. The game has a flow chart of parallel worlds that tracks the player’s journey.
Namco Bandai is developing The Reminiscence of Haruhi Suzumiya for two platforms, PlayStation 3 and PSP. The story is the same on both platforms. You can even take save data from the PS3 version and use it your PSP to continue the game on a lunch break or vice-versa. The difference between the two versions is the quality of graphics (they’re better on PS3) and the amount of voice acting (the PS3 has more).
The Reminiscence of Haruhi Suzumiya is scheduled to come out next year.
