Back in June, we discovered a trademark filed by Sony for something called “Playview.” At the time, we weren’t sure what to make of it and, venturing a guess from the description, suggested it might be for some sort of online e-book store or an elaborate demo store.
It turns out, PlayView is neither. Today, Sony revealed Playview as a digital strategy guide service for games. For example, here’s a PlayView guide for Monster Hunter Freedom Unite that includes all sorts of information on the game, ranging from attacks to monsters, and even on meat quality, for 600 yen.
The catch is that you can only view PlayView guides on your PlayStation 3. We’re hoping Sony extends this service to the PSP at some point, so you can read guides for PS3 games on it while you play.
