After Hajime Tabata talked about The 3rd Birthday, I came up to see how the game looks on a PSP screen and Tabata handed it to me. This isn’t a full hands-on because I only spent about a minute with the game, but I actually got to play a tiny bit of The 3rd Birthday.
The level I got to try was on a road in future New York. Ruined buildings surrounded Aya as I walked on a road. You move Aya with the analog stick and hold R to aim. Enemies, these snake-like creatures, were hanging on lamp posts. In this build, Aya automatically locked on to enemies. Pressing the d-pad opened a menu to make Aya switch weapons.
During the demo, I saw The 3rd Birthday played on a TV. The game looks much sharper when played on a PSP. “PS2 like [graphics],” Tabata asked me while I was playing. I nodded and replied, “Yeah, it looks amazing.”
