This year, Square Enix’s lineup feels light with only Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, Front Mission Evolved, and Nier from their Japan offices. Sure, there are some Eidos titles like Deus Ex: Human Revolution, but their localization division must be working on something other than The 4 Heroes of Light and Dariusburst.
Perhaps, Chocobo’s Crystal Tower is one of their internal projects. This game has not been announced, but Square Enix filed a trademark for Chocobo’s Crystal Tower for use with video games in Europe. One oddity about this hypothetical Chocobo game is it doesn’t appear to have a Japanese counterpart. Chocobo and the Magic Picture Book and the DS port of Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo’s Dungeon don’t seem to fit Chocobo’s Crystal Tower.
Is this an unannounced title? Maybe it’s an iPhone game. Square Enix has been backing the platform with original games like Sliding Heroes and Chaos Rings, which, coincidentally, we also discovered from a trademark registration.
