The Western version of 3D Dot Game Heroes has a ton of characters to choose from. You can start the game as a dragon, vampire, robot king, even Rikimaru from Tenchu.
But, Atlus forgot one key character – their mascot Jack Frost. So, I made him.
I started by making a solid rectangle body in the character editor and chipped away at it to make his snowman figure. Then I made the hat, but couldn’t get the yellow smiley face in. 3D Dot Game Heroes has a maximum set of dimensions you can use for custom characters and I had to save room for the tails. The next thing was the collar and (ta-da!) Jack Frost!
After you create a base model, you can copy and paste it to other poses. Then edit those frames for attacks, walking, and celebrating when you get an item. It’s not as tough as it sounds since 3D Dot Game Heroes does all of the animation. You can actually skip that part by pasting the model on all of those frames.
There are still little things I want to edit, like making the hat wave when Jack Frost walks, but after the model is done I plan to share with Siliconera readers. Check back around May 11 when 3D Dot Game Heroes comes out in North America.
