“Enhancing” the width and length of your sword is a real gameplay mechanic in 3D Dot Game Heroes. You can purchase other upgrades too like adding a beam. Having a giant sword seems great and all, but the wide blade can be blocked by a narrow dungeon corridor. Still, it’s amusing to swing a humongous sword on the overworld, especially when you spin around and slice up Moblin-like creatures by spinning the analog stick.

I hope the video is also a sign that 3D Dot Game Heroes will have an ace localization with lots irreverent jokes, just like the Japanese version. We’ll find out when 3D Dot Game Heroes ships on May 11.
