Danball Senki has mecha, collecting, and it’s a RPG. Level 5’s upcoming game all of the ingredients to be a major hit in Japan. It even has a Pokemon vibe.
In the distant future cardboard boxes magically fly into trucks and kids play with Little Battle Experience (abbreviated as LBX) robots. One of these toys given to Ban also holds the fate of the world. A woman hands the plucky teenager the device which Ban customizes into the knightly looking Achilles V. Players can further modify their LBXs by equipping different parts. I totally expect Level 5 to hide a White Knight Chronicles costume in the game.
Similar to Pokemon, Mega Man EXE, and other titles in the game within a game genre you battle other LBXes, but not in elaborate stadiums. Cardboard boxes acts arenas, which explains the title. This trailer has an example of what battles are like, but it’s unclear if all of the action is turn based or real time.
Danball Senki is slated to come out on mobile phones via Level 5’s Roid platform this year. Next year it hits the PSP.
