So, if you haven’t heard Irem is making another PSP RPG. Narisokonai Eiyuuden: Taiyou to Tsuki no Monogatari (Narisokonai Epic: Tale of the Sun and Moon) comes out on July 23 with a “unique” buffet selection of heroes. You play Danish, a swordsman following is father’s footsteps, with Bread, Muffin, Croque, and Roll as party members.
Silly English names aside (remember Vanilla Beans?), Narisokonai has some twists to differentiate it from a traditional RPG formula. In the middle of combat you can hear your team’s thoughts. They fly on the screen like YouTube or NicoNico comments. Similar to Persona and Luminous Arc, Danish can build relationships with his allies too. The stronger the bond, the stronger both characters are in battle.
Irem says Narisokonai has over 40 jobs, some of which are oddball classes like a chef that attacks with a frying pan and a math teacher.
We haven’t heard any rumblings of an international release, but I think Atlus will pick this game up and localize next year. Right now, Atlus has been the primary source of Irem games in North America and a niche RPG is right up their ally.
