Nintendo and major advertising conglomerate Dentsu are joining forces to make a Nintendo video channel scheduled to come out in Japan on May 1. Wii no Ma (Wii’s Room) takes place in a virtual living room with up to eight Miis gathering around a table. Users can point and click on the TV to watch videos. What kind of shows? Nintendo hasn’t announced them yet.
Wii no Ma has other features like an interactive calendar and corporate sponsor houseplant. Seriously. You click on the plant to browse sponsor offers and access free trials. Nintendo also mentions guests or Celebrimiis can interact with you either as TV hosts or visitors.
The Wii no Ma channel is free to download, but the videos may or may not be sold separately. It’s also unclear of the videos stream to a Wii or if users have to save them first. Good thing the SD card fix is out in the open. Unfortunately, Wii no Ma is only for Japan at this time. If Nintendo has any plans to launch a similar service in North America E3 is the prime place for them to announce it.
