Shortly after Arc System Works said BlazBlue was being developed for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in Japan Aksys stepped forward with an announcement for North America. Aksys will bring the high resolution 2D fighter stateside this summer which is right around when Japan gets the console port. A specific date has not been announced for any region.
BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger is being called a spiritual successor to Guilty Gear. The team that built Guilty Gear made BlazBlue, but the new game features none of the offbeat characters that made the Guilty Gear series famous. Technical elements like instant kill attacks live on under new names like Astral Heat. With Street Fighter IV already in stores and the King of Fighters XII coming this summer this year is shaping up to be one brawl after another.
Update: Aksys sent over a more detailed e-mail explaining BlazBlue will have console exclusive content such as new music, animations, and a full story mode. The US version will also have dual language support with English and the original Japanese track. Online play will have lobbies where six players can link up to watch or fight.
