Shortly after the Famitsu story Capcom opened a site for the Wii version of Monster Hunter G and it has a few details about the release. You can play Monster Hunter G with the Classic Controller and go online. Monster Hunter G Wii supports four hunters at a time through network play. Also the game has been updated to include features not found in the PS2 version like sending items straight to your box.
Not sure if these features are enough to get anyone excited about a port, but to Capcom’s credit they haven’t announced a price for Monster Hunter G Wii. It might come out as a budget release like Resident Evil Zero or Resident Evil. Then again given the popularity of the Monster Hunter series in Japan it might not.
