Taking the Retro Game Master Challenge

Good news everyone! Xseed plans on keeping everything in Game Center CX intact. They are translating all of the virtual video game mags and keep every faux 8-bit game in Retro Game Challenge. There is even a top loading Famicom on the floor. I asked Xseed if they plan on changing it to a Nintendo in the final build, but there are no current plans to make a graphical swap.

I tried out Rally King, an arcade style racer where you drift into first place. The rules don’t explain how to drift, but I accidentally discovered skidding left and right makes the car flash which gives you a brief turbo boost. I played Rally King in free play mode so there wasn’t a challenge to complete. After winning a round I moved onto Star Prince (pictured) which looks inspired by Star Solider. The game is a solid standalone vertical shmup with secrets like extra hidden extra lives. I asked a team member how to find them and he told me I would have to peruse the magazines. That localization of the magazines is what I’m curious about, but the build of Retro Game Challenge at E3 was the Japanese version of the game.
