The idea behind Namco Bandai’s bubble wrap popping toy is stress relief. I suppose a daily stress check is a fitting addition to the WiiWare adaptation, Ouchi de Mugen Puchi Puchi Wii (loosely: In Your Home Infinite Bubble Wrap Pop Pop Wii) then. After playing the mini-game of the day, like dodging rocks with a canoe, the mind diagnosis factors the daily weather for your daily stress check. If you’re too tense you can spend time popping virtual bubble wrap in one of the 40 stages in Ouchi de Mugen Puchi Puchi Wii. Stages include classic Namco Arcade games, a snowman stage where you crush snowmen, and a level where each pop plays a part of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. The final product still feels odd, but strangely compelling for the sake of novelty.

Ouchi de Mugen Puchi Puchi Wii comes out on June 24 Japan for 800 Wii Points ($8) and it’s going to face fierce competition from Super Mario RPG which debuts on the Virtual Console in Japan.
