Sony confirmed the number of PS5 systems sold worldwide so far as of July 18, 2021, even with the digital and standard models often being sold out. Both models combined passed the 10 million mark. It also noted updates on some of games also available on the PS5, like Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.
With the PS5, we’ve had quite a few updates going over how the system’s sold so far. First, Sony confirmed over 118,000 units were sold in Japan between November 12-15, 2020. In terms of worldwide sales, the last update came in February 2021 and covered sales through December 31, 2020. Sony then noted 4.5 million systems were sold worldwide between the November 2021 launch and end of the year. This comes even has a shortage of components means the PS5 could continue to be sold out even in 2022. Yet despite this, Sony noted it is its “fastest selling console.”
As for the most recent PS5 games sales figures, there were updates on four titles that all hit hallmarks. Here’s the list of them.
- Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales: Over 6.5 million copies sold so far. This is available on the PS4 and PS5.
- MLB the Show 21: Over 2 million copies sold so far. It is available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
- Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart: Over 1.1 million copies sold so far.
- Returnal: Over 560,000 copies sold so far.
Of those, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is the oldest, as it launched on November 12, 2020 alongside the PS5. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is the most recent. It debuted on June 11, 2021.
The PS5 digital and physical editions are available worldwide, when not sold out, and passed 10 million in sales so far.
