Team Salvato has revealed its visual novel, Doki Doki Literature Club, has reached a major milestone. Dan Salvato revealed the game has been downloaded over one million times. When making the announcement, he said, “It’s only just now I’ve realized that nothing I’ve ever done in my life has had greater reach and popularity than a romance game with cute anime girls.”

For those unfamiliar with the game, Doki Doki Literature Club is a visual novel about a young man who ends up joining his school’s literature club and writing poetry with Sayori, Natsuki, Yuri, and Monika, the other members. It is free to play, though a $9.99 fan pack is also available.

In the announcement Salvato says he currently has no announcements to make. He does confirm that he is working on his next game and says he is “considering some options for providing more DDLC-related content to fans in the future.”

Doki Doki Literature Club is available for the PC.
