Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii recently shared some comments on Dragon Quest XII during a keynote at CEDEC + KYUSHU 2018 in which he moderated alongside Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino. [Thanks, Famitsu via Gamestalk.]
During the event, Hino asked “So how is the twelth one going?” to which Yuji Horii responded “I’ve thought of keywords, but I can’t say them here” with a laugh. While Horii is known for his occasional slips, he didn’t have much else to share during the event as far as the development of Dragon Quest XII goes.
Horii continued, “However, for Dragon Quest XI it was the scenario that was highly praised and enjoyed, so perhaps the next one can be a game known for its systems, or so you might think, but I could always end up doing another grand story, so it gives me a bit of a desire to be mischievous.”
The Dragon Quest creator also added, “I keep thinking about wanting to do a theme that involves ‘making dream comes true’.”
Lastly on the topic of Dragon Quest XII, Horii said that “It is still several years away.”
